Lead Instructor – Automotive Technology

Kilgore College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college located in Northeast Texas. We are an open-door, student centered institution characterized by excellence in teaching and learning. This position reports to the Department Chairman of Public Service and Automotive Technology, and is a part of the Public Services and Industrial Technology division.
This position has the primary responsibility of teaching in the Automotive Technology program courses. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, updating, development and teaching of Automotive courses, acquiring and maintaining testing and lab equipment, and providing instruction/training in a classroom and lab setting. Other responsibilities include advising students, participating in college activities, recruiting, participating in professional development activities; interacting with students; and performing other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the community college mission and purpose. All full-time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an associate’s degree plus 5 years of industry work experience is required. The candidate must also be ASE Certified in all areas that they will teach. ASE Master tech is preferred. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office are necessary. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse, multicultural student population; manage and work within an established budget, and effectively network with industry professionals in order to advance/enhance the program. Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy of education.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
Salary for this faculty member position will vary with work experience. With an Associate’s Degree and five years of verifiable work experience, this full-time 10.5-month position would pay $51,117. Additional pay for years of additional work experience is possible. Overload and summer classes are paid separately. Health, life, and income protection insurances are provided as is retirement through either the Teacher Retirement System or Optional Retirement Program. In addition, the College provides generous paid leave time, free family memberships to college’s Parks Fitness Center, and tuition scholarships for the employee and dependent children. Note: Kilgore College does not participate in the Social Security retirement program.
