The Onsite Fitness Coach (OFC) will work onsite closely with the Customer’s Human Resource and Benefits team, Onsite engagement team and wellness committee (as key stakeholders) in meeting the organization’s health improvement goals. The OFC identifies the right wellness program mix to engage, coach to educate and activate employees to achieve health improvement goals. In partnership with the Onsite team, the OFC recommends the appropriate delivery and coordination of wellness programs including event scheduling and appointment coordination with individuals into programs and monitors the effectiveness of interactions. The focus of the OFC is working well with the population of employees in aggregate. A core objective of this position is to facilitate wellness activities and coaching that educates and influences employees at the worksite to lead healthy lifestyles. As such, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate that they are a positive role model for the healthy behaviors that they promote.

General Responsibilities

  • Assist the Onsite Team with an assessment of the employee health challenges and objectives, helping them to design and implement an onsite wellness program that is customized to their workforce, goals, and budget. The assessment will utilize health risk assessment data and may factor in claim/utilization data, employee survey, biometrics, or other data
  • Consults with benefits team to convey the importance of the establishment of the right framework for an effective wellness and fitness program, i.e., leadership support, a wellness committee, the appropriate incentive structure, and supporting organizational policies related to wellness education, lifestyle, nutrition and importance of Wellness Goals
  • Facilitate health related group activities among the population over a defined period of time (onsite stretching, nutrition classes, walking groups, weight loss support groups)
  • The focus of the campaign is lifestyle habit change/improvement, setting individual SMART goals
  • Wellness Events rotating through onsite locations building rapport and trust with the lifestyle program
  • Establish consistency, 3-year goals and assist in the coordination of fitness and nutrition objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in health and wellness field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or equivalent degree type combined with 1 to 3 years of virtual wellness experience
  • Certified (NASM, ACSM, ACE or equivalent)
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
  • Experience teaching group exercises classes and on individual level
  • Experience promoting exercise and wellness materials in a virtual environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of health/wellness programs and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to be creative in the process of developing wellness programs and materials
  • Proven track record of developing virtual fitness activities and remote fitness support
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff members to be successful
  • Ability to work in a changing, dynamic environment with competing demands
  • Ability to maintain confidential documents and information
  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Familiar with virtual technology meetings (Zoom, GoTo Meetings, WebEx and Teams)
  • Working knowledge of the practices and methods of event planning and coordinating
  • Knowledge of project management practices and techniques
  • Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations relating to health and wellness benefits

Physical Requirements

  • When attending events or traveling to various field locations subject to the normal garage and shop working conditions such as noise, dust, grease, moving vehicles, etc., and exposure to prevailing weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

Working Conditions

  • Subject to normal garage and shop working conditions such as noise, dust, grease, moving vehicles, etc. when visiting the field locations
  • Travels to various locations and exposed to prevailing weather conditions
  • Ability to provide both onsite and remote wellness support
