Personal Trainer is employed to provide the following:

1) Building programs, teaching, and implementing an individual’s personal fitness and wellness program

2) Maintain and provide a professional and confidential relationship in which the participant will be instructed on benefits of exercise and proper use of exercise equipment

3) Motivate and coach individuals or groups in personalized exercise plans

Required Qualifications:

Personal Training Certification –Must have and maintain a current Personal Training national certification(accepted certifications include: NSCA, ACSM-CPT, ACE, ISSA or AFAA or comparable certification)

Certification in CPR, AED and First Aid is required within 30 days of employment

Willingness to work mornings, afternoons, late nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Academic Majors – Bachelor of Science: Exercise Science, Pre-Physical Therapy Concentration in ExerciseScience, Bachelor of Science: Athletic Training, Health Science, Health & Physical Education-Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education-Teacher Certification, Nutrition and Dietetics, Pre-Occupational Therapy Concentration in Exercise Science, Professional Studies, and Public Health.

Genuine interest in fitness and wellness and a commitment to providing quality service

Working knowledge of safe conditioning procedures related to various types of free weight equipment, sectorized weight equipment, plate-loaded, and cardiovascular equipment

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Duties and Responsibilities:

To promote fitness and wellness through personalized training programs for the specific individual

To educate participants on proper and safe exercise form. Execute equipment orientations

To design exercise programs for a variety of participants utilizing the fitness program by combining individualhealth and fitness goals with fitness assessment results

To execute fitness assessment testing

To demonstrate expertise in using the pin-selectorized weight equipment, free-weights, plate-loaded, andcardiovascular equipment to patrons and educate participants on proper and safe exercise form

To implement facility rules and regulations in all areas of the fitness area

To maintain the safety of the participants, enforce all written policies, and monitor all weight room policiesregarding safe and proper use of equipment

To report any problem or safety concerns to Fitness Director

To understand all facility policies and procedures as described in the Handbook.

To attend, and contribute to, all mandatory staff meetings, continuing education sessions, leadership and diversity trainings

To maintain a positive TEAM environment and professional relationship with staff and patrons

To know and understand all CPR, AED and First Aid procedures to properly handle an emergency situation andinitiate the necessary emergency procedures when applicable

To perform other duties as assigned
